The landlord of a Teesside pub has raised more than £50,000 for charity in the past ten years. Pete and Maureen McNeil, who run the Norton Tavern, in Station Road, Norton, made the announcement at a recent presentation evening.

During the evening a cheque of £1,500 was presented to the Macmillan nurses and a cheque for £1,500 was also given to the Butterwick Children's Hospice.

SEAside VIEWS: An artist has put together an audio exhibition based on people's descriptions of the views from their windows in Saltburn. Jane Gower, who is visiting the town, spoke to people about their views, and the descriptions can be listened to in the exhibition, entitled A Phone View of Stockton, which opened at Saltburn Gallery at the weekend.

MAJOR DELAYS: Traffic lights will be in force at the junction of Darlington Back Lane and Yarm Back Lane, in Stockton, this week. Major delays are expected at peak times.

LANE CLOSURES: Highway improvement works are being carried out on the A177 Durham Road, near Thorpe Thewles, by Stockton Borough Council this week. There will be lane closures.

MONEY RAISED: The North East VW Club raised £500 for the Butterwick Hospice at a 60s and 70s night at Billingham Cricket Club, on Saturday, March 16.

Phone mast: BT Cellnet has applied to Hartlepool Borough Council for permission to build a 15m phone mast in Catcote Road in the town, south of the Elwick Road junction.

Community day: Stockton Baptist Tabernacle, in The Square, Stockton, is inviting shoppers to drop in to the church on Saturday, from 10am to 3pm, for a community day. Activities will include visits from the police and fire brigade.
