THE future of a £10m plan to create a heritage centre celebrating the life and times of Captain Cook is to be decided shortly.
Trustees of the Captain James Cook RN Charity Trust have had one bid for the project turned down. A second outline application for Cook's World, which would turn a derelict locomotive shed in Whitby into a visitor centre, has been submitted to Scarborough Borough Council.
Councillors rejected the scheme last year because it was considered there were too few details available, but organisers said the latest blueprint is far more comprehensive.
