KEN and Claire Wright will be holding a family party to mark their golden wedding anniversary today.
The couple, from Coniscliffe Road, Darlington first met 60 years ago, while Mrs Wright was visiting her aunt, who lived next door to her future husband's family in Eaglescliffe.
Mrs Wright was born in Darlington, but the family later moved to Leeds, and that is where the couple were married on March 29, 1952.
Mr Wright, 74, spent his working life in agriculture. Mrs Wright was a nurse at Darlington Memorial Hospital until both retired 11 years ago.
Their main interest is fell walking.
The couple have three children, Mark, Judith and Gillian, and four grandchildren, Andrew, Becky, Victoria and Katy.
Mrs Wright, 71, said the secret to a happy marriage was "respect and trust in each other and, of course, loving each other"
