THE Under-8s celebrated wins over Doxford Park Wasps and Byers Green. John Buck scored both goals against Doxford Park and Marcus Maddison scored the only goal against Byers Green.The Under-9s also had two victories beating Hylton Castle 3-1 thanks to the first ever Riverside goal from Nail Thompson and two goals from Christopher Martin. They then went on to beat Redby Blues 3-0 with goals from Danny Jackson (2) and Alex Ryan.
In the Under-10s Riverside RAR met the Riverside Boys. RAR went into a two-goal lead with goals from Craig Lynch and Johnny Staff. Tom Winter pulled one back with his first ever Riverside goal to make it 2-1, but a strong second half performance from RAR enabled them to finish 7-1 winners. RAR goals came from Johnny Hewitson, Ricky Fenwick (2) and Kieran McDonald.
In their second game RAR had a top of the table clash with Fulwell and goals from Craig Lynch and Ricky Fenwick gave them a 2-1 victory.
Coxhoe Boys
THE Under-13s lost 4-2 to Blackfyne in the Gateshead League last weekend.
New signing Michael Owens grabbed both goals for Coxhoe who battled throughout the game despite being 4-2 at half-time.
Michael Roberts was best for Coxhoe in the middle of the pitch.
Thirsk Falcons
Thirsk Falcons Under-12s travelled to Darlington Albion to contest the league cup semi-final. After five minutes Falcons defender Tom Burrell suffered an injury and the reshuffle brought increased Thirsk possession and attacking. After 15 minutes the visitors were rewarded when Nick Dixon's low cross was fiercely met by Sam Raw who crashed the ball off the underside of the crossbar for 1-0. Albion responded but failed to capitalise on chances. Thirsk produced several counter-attacks one of which seven minutes from time secured the victory. Thirsk now play Northallerton in the final.
Auckland & District EBAC Youth League
Willington Under-18s drew 1-1 a home to Coundon & Leeholme on Saturday to complete their programme in the first round of the League Cup to earn a place in the semi finals.
Paul Bayles scored for Willington, and Sean Carling for Coundon. The other semi finalists are cup holders Chilton YC, Barnard Castle and Bishop Auckland. Chilton, already sure of a last four place, won 4-0 at Spennymoor Legion with goals from Craig Nathan, Anthony Tate (2) and Michael Carr. Ferryhill drew 1-1 at home to Bishop Auckland in the league.
