CAMPAIGNERS battling to keep a Wensleydale youth hostel open will take their fight to the top next month.
Youth Hostel Association chairman, Roger Clarke, visits neighbouring Swaledale on April 25 to mark the opening of refurbished facilities at Grinton, near Reeth.
He will be met by delegations from Richmondshire District Council and the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, demanding a better deal for nearby Aysgarth.
Even though the hostel, between Leyburn and Bainbridge, sleeps as many as 7,000 people a year, it is one of ten marked for closure by the end of the year.
However, all three tiers of local government, MP William Hague and the national park authority have vowed to press Mr Clarke to ask the YHA board to think again when he visits the area.
