A real cracker of a game took place at Horndale Rec between Navy Club and Shildon Three Tuns which resulted in a 2-1 win for the Navy Club.
Tuns scored first with a strike by Stefan McGann but this was equalised by the Clubmen with a goal by Andy Ryder. The second half was an end-to-end affair with both sides having chances to win the game. The winning goal came from Paul Burkett who beat the offside trap and struck the ball sweetly past the goalkeeper. However, the ball stuck in a very muddy goalmouth only a hard shot off the line.
Another game between two top sides saw Aycliffe Saints and the Otter and Fish share six goals in a thriller. The Otter got off to a disastrous start when their goalkeeper was sent off in the first ten minutes for a professional foul. Saints goals were scored by Matt Cave, Wayne Richardson and Mike Cave with Wayne King, Neil Bell and Simon Middlemiss replying for Otter.
League leaders Royal had a comfortable 7-1 win over Hydro in a game that was all over as a spectacle at half time. Royal's goals came from Wayne Muldowney (2), Simon Hares (2), Ian Jenkins, Paul Clearly and Peter Kitching.
Another close game was played at Hundens between Mowden and Central Borough resulting in a 2-0 win for Borough who goals came from Matt Ripley and Chris Hall.
Wheatsheaf Wanderers went to DGSOB with only nine men and had a 4-1. The game was 1-1 at half-time but Wheatsheaf came away with a deserved three points with goals from Stephen Houlahan and a hat-trick from David Allen.
