A CARING school which promotes a good attitude among pupils was the verdict of education inspectors who visited Hunton and Arrathorne primary, near Bedale.
An Ofsted report published last week highlighted youngsters' "very good attitude towards school" and a "positive caring ethos" at the 60-pupil school.
By the end of both key stages, at ages seven and 11, attainment is above the national average in maths and science.
Achievement in English is in line with the national average, with reading, speaking and listening scoring higher than average.
The report found the school's sound provision for children with special educational needs led to good academic progress.
Inspectors found teaching satisfactory throughout the school, with special strength identified in quality of planning, ensuring pupils of different ages received work that matched their needs.
Appropriate challenges were set for children who progressed quickly as well as those who needed extra support.
Steve Kowal, head teacher, said: "We are all very proud of our school and its values and pleased with the report, particularly in the guidance is gives us in constantly striving to improve standards.
