A TOWN has unveiled its plans for the Queen's golden jubilee celebration.
A jubilee committee, headed by Northallerton Mayor, Sally Anderson, hopes to provide a packed programme of events on Saturday, June 1.
The committee is applying for permission to close part of the High Street for celebrations. The event will focus on what life was like when Queen Elizabeth II ascended the throne in 1952. There will be a 1950s-themed market, with prizes for the best stall and the best dressed 1950s-style shoppers.
Street entertainment will include a barrel piano, children's entertainers and bands.
Councillor Anderson said: "I am very pleased with the plans so far, and it looks as if we really will have something for everyone. There is still a great deal to do and more help is still needed."
Anyone with ideas for entertainment should contact Councillor John Coulson on (01609) 770011 or 771109.
The committee is looking for memorabilia of life in the town in 1952. Anyone who can help is asked to contact (01609) 776718.
