COMMUNITY groups looking to get in touch with their artistic side are being urged to apply for grants.
Wear Valley Arts hopes to inspire clubs or associations to apply for arts grants of up to £500 under its Mission to Commission scheme.
The arts body, run by Wear Valley District Council, is making the money available for innovative arts projects that will take place in Wear Valley and be completed by the end of next March.
Cultural services manager David Plews said: "The aim of the Mission to Commission scheme this year is to encourage projects that develop new work of some sort.
"There are no limitations on the art form or the theme. You may want to commission a piece of sculpture, music, drama, digital art, dance, painting... the list is endless."
The awards will meet 75 per cent of costs or up to £500. The application procedure is designed to be relatively simple, but people are urged to apply as soon as possible.

Application forms are available from Jane McCabe on (01388) 765555 ext 219 or email j.mccabeast with her partner
