A NATIONWIDE search has begun for a limited edition motorbike worth £16,000, which was stolen from a garage at the weekend.
Detectives in Crook, County Durham, have begun national inquiries to try and find the distinctive purple and black Harley Davidson, after thieves broke into a council-owned garage on the Ashcroft estate, in Stanhope, Weardale, to take the vehicle.
A Honda CBR 600, worth about £5,000, was also stolen.
A police spokesman said: "It is a very distinctive bike. There aren't many Harley Davidson motorbikes around anyway, but this is also a limited edition."
Police are urging anyone who knows anything about the thefts, which happened between midday on Wednesday, March 27, and 11am, on Friday, March 29, to contact them on (01388) 762011.
The Harley Davidson has the words Dyna Wide Glide written on the side. Its registration number is M200 RAY and the Honda's is V884 EDT.
