A WOMAN has raised thousands of pounds for charity in memory of a relative.
Eileen Hornby, from Darlington, was spurred into raising funds for the Leukaemia Research charity after her sister-in-law died from the disease seven years.
She decided to organise disco nights to help raise money to fund research into the disease, and recently she presented the proceeds from her efforts - a cheque for £5,000 - to the Darlington branch of the charity.
She is also holding a 1960s and 1970s disco on Saturday, from 7.30pm to midnight, at The Ambassador Suite, at Darlington Football Club.
Tickets cost £6 and include a pie and peas supper. Call (01325) 483 154/ 07989 830733 for tickets or details
