A SOLDIER is serving in Bosnia as part of the Nato peacekeeping force.
Bombardier Paul Lindley, 27, is a qualified gunner with The Royal Regiment of Artillery, which is part of the multinational Nato-led stabilisation force (SFOR).
Harsh weather conditions, often ranging from -20C to 15C degrees in a day, make life in Bosnia difficult for the soldiers trying to provide humanitarian relief.
Arms checks are done to ensure groups do not have illegal weapons.
Bdr Lindley, who is on his third tour of duty in Bosnia, said: "The locals were more friendly when we first arrived - now they are a little less so."
SFOR is implementing a long-term programme to re-build the economy damaged in the conflict.
Bdr Lindley joined up in 1990. His parents, Harry and Dawne, live in Northallerton
