THE twin towns of Malton and Norton need a high-tech business park to create employment, says a report.
The key findings of the 100-page report produced for the town's area partnership, and funded through the Government's Countryside Agency, Yorkshire Forward and Ryedale District Council, calls for a facelift for the town centres, more community facilities and development of Malton's railway and bus stations.
It reveals that eight per cent of Ryedale's 22,500 properties are "unfit" and need modernising.
As a result, eight working groups have been set up to tackle such issues as economic development, community facilities, youth services, transport, history, culture and the environment.
