As David Nicholls' horses have tended to need their reappearance runs this season, there was plenty to like about the way his Scotty's Future shaped in the Lincoln Handicap at Doncaster last month.

And the progressive four-year-old, who ran a blinder when fifth to Zucchero over the straight mile at Town Moor that day, should be well suited by the return to a mile and a quarter and gets the vote in the Coral Eurobet Roseberry Showcase Handicap at Kempton this afternoon.

That should have brought him on considerably and the booking of Darryll Holland certainly inspires plenty of confidence. My selection won twice over this trip last year and this drying ground looks to be very much in his favour.

Although 9lb higher than his last win over this trip last August, there's every chance he can prove to be better than his rating for his current yard and he's taken to beat Luca Cumani's Kuster.

Nicholls and Holland can also be on the mark with Continent, who also shaped as though in need of the run at Doncaster recently.

The five-year-old developed into a fair sprinter last season and he won the ultra-competitive Ayr Gold Cup last September.

While his form behind Seven No Trumps at Doncaster was a below-par effort, he ran as though retaining his ability for a long way and he should be spot on here.

James Given's Tom Tun did this column a good turn at Doncaster and he can follow up in the V21.co.uk £9.99 Unmetered Internet Access Handicap over six furlongs. On his first run for his new stable he showed all his usual battling qualities to beat Chispa and, although 6lb higher here, he is still on a fair mark.

The booking of Jamie Spencer is also an eyecatching one and the partnership are preferred to Ron Hodges' Bandanna, the mount of Pat Eddery.

At Newcastle Given's Ronnie From Donny has sound claims in the EBF For Your Eyes Only Novice Stakes over five furlongs.

However, he may struggle to confirm placings with Mick Channon's Moon At Midnight, who finished one place behind him at Town Moor.

Moon At Midnight did well as he looked much more in need of the race than Ronnie From Donny and he's a nice type physically with plenty of scope for further improvement.

Conditions are going to be on the testing side and the ability to act in the conditions will be of paramount importance. There are no worries on that score with Arc, who looks sure to go well in the Freephone Cantor Sport On 0800 83 750 Handicap over a mile.

George Moore's runner is at his best with cut in the ground and he caught the eye on his most recent outing on the AW at Southwell. That should have blown away the cobwebs and he's taken to account for Kid'z'play and Chapel Royale.

Melodian likes plenty of cut in the ground, usually comes to hand at this time of year and is taken to go well in the Car Promotions - Win A Mazda MX-5 Handicap over seven furlongs.

Mel Brittain's runner hasn't reproduced the form he showed when waltzing away with the Lincoln consolation race at Doncaster a year ago but, in a modest handicap, he's taken to beat Espada.

Low numbers are usually favoured on the sprint course when the ground is on the easy side so Gdansk takes the eye from the 3 box in the Bet Spread Free With Cantor Sport Handicap over five furlongs.

Alan Berry's runner has no easy task under topweight but he's at least shown he loves testing ground and he won on his reappearance last year.

At Carlisle Moore can be on the mark with Jungle Jinks in the opening novice hurdle over two and a half miles.

Although the form of his Ayr win is nothing special, the manner of it was impressive and he's taken to follow up at the chief expense of Mr Woodentop.

Pillaging Pict has been crying out for the return to two and a half miles and is the selection in the handicap chase over the same trip half an hour later.

A winner at Catterick earlier this season, he was done for foot on bad ground at Newcastle last time so this extra distance looks sure to suit.

At Wetherby the consistent Grey Abbey, who loves to get his own way in small fields, could well make all in the Handicap chase over three miles and one furlong
