A KEEN gardener has been honoured for his work with one particular type of bloom.
Joe Kidd, of Nevada Gardens, Darlington, has been awarded a silver medal by the National Dahlia Society.
The medal was awarded in recognition of Mr Kidd's dedication to dahlias during his lifetime.
He said: "It is a coveted award and I am very honoured to have been presented with it."
Mr Kidd has been an official for the Darlington Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society for more than 40 years and has also served on the northern committee of the National Dahlia Society for 26 years.
He regularly shows his flowers, especially new breeds, and judges other competitors at national and local level.
