BRITISH Horseracing Board officials last night announced they are to cancel the fixtures scheduled for Pontefract, Southwell and Exeter on April 9, the date of the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
Board chairman Peter Saville said: ''Everybody involved in our sport is immensely proud of the very special relationship which the Queen Mother had with racing.
''The British Horseracing Board considers it wholly appropriate to make a speedy decision to cancel fixtures on the day of her funeral."
