The devastating impact the foot-and-mouth disaster had on County Durham is the subject of a photographic exhibition. In the Shadow mixes photographs by Richard Grassick and text by local residents and farmers. The display runs until April 13 in the Discovery Centre, Bishop Auckland Market Place. The centre is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 4pm. Admission is free.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: A service is to be held in memory of the Queen Mother in St David's Church in Tudhoe on Thursday. On the same day people can also sign a book of condolence between 11am and 3pm and 6pm and 7pm at the church.
ACCESS SCRUTINY: Access to churches in Crook are to be the subject of a survey by Wear Valley Disability Access Forum. The report, which will be funded by Single Regeneration Budget money, will identify problems for people with disabilities.
MUSICal lunch: Bishop Auckland Town Hall's Lunchtime Concert takes place on Friday, when musician George Hetherington will be joined by guest singers to perform popular music. Food served. Tickets £2.

ANTIQUES EXPERT: Antiques consultant Adam Schoon will speak at Darlington College of Technology, at 7.45pm, on Monday. Mr Schoon has appeared on the BBC's Going for a Song programme. The event, organised by the Darlington Lecture Organisation, will be held following its annual meeting, which begins at 7pm.
PARISH MEETING: The annual parish meeting of St James the Great Church, in Darlington, will be held on April 25, at 7.15pm. All parishioners are welcome at the meeting.
