TICKETS have gone on sale for the region's version of Last Night of the Proms concert.
The Northern Echo has joined forces with Music for Darlington to present an evening of patriotic music in the town next month.
The concert at the Dolphin Centre will feature musicians from all over the North-East and North Yorkshire, including The King's Division Waterloo Band and the Tees Valley 2000 Pipes and Drums.
A choir, made up of singers from across the region, will also take part in the event on Saturday, May 18.
The winner of the North-East Young Soprano competition, who will be announced days before the concert, will also take to the stage, before the evening is rounded off with traditional audience- participation in a chorus of Rule Britannia.
It will be the sixth time the Last Night of the Proms concert has been held in Darlington.
Younger musicians will also get their chance to perform the night before the proms, at A Promenade for Youth concert, also at the Dolphin Centre.
Among the young performers will be the Egglescliffe School Orchestra and violinist Edward Walton, the Darlington and Northallerton Rotary Young Musician of the Year.
All money raised from the events will go to St Teresa's Hospice in Darlington, Darlington and District Age Concern, Darlington Mind and the Corps of Army Music Trust.
Tickets for both events can be bought from The Northern Echo offices on (01325) 466224, Williams Music on (01325) 466224 or the Dolphin Centre on (01325) 388406.
