THE premiere of a gory roadshow with an Egyptian theme will be held at a North-East museum this week.
The event, at the Hancock Museum, in Newcastle, features songs, sketches - and ritual dismemberment.
The Awesome Egyptian was written by Terry Deary, author of the Horrible Histories series.
The roadshow was created for the Hancock and runs today, tomorrow and Thursday, with shows at 11am and 2.30pm.
The one-hour event explores the history of the ancient Egyptians, with the nasty bits left in.
The gruesome facts that are related include how mummification was performed by removing organs and pulling the brain out through the nose.
Hancock curator Steve McLean said: "We hope Awesome Egyptians will be very popular over the Easter break and we are very excited that this is the first time this show has been seen.
"Kids love things that make them go 'yuk', and this is a fun way for them to learn about Egyptian history."
Tickets for the show should be booked, on 0191-222 6765, and are subject to availability on the day.
