MARKET trader Wilf Mannion, who, apart from wartime service in the Army, spent all his working life selling fruit and vegetables on York market, has died at the age of 95. His funeral takes place tomorrow at All Saints' Church, Long Marston.
FRESH SUPPORT: Hambleton and Richmondshire Victim Support will be dissolved this month to clear the way for a new structure in North Yorkshire. A general meeting will be held at police headquarters, in Newby Wiske, at 7pm on Thursday, April 25, to transfer assets to the new North Yorkshire branch, which will be formed on June 1. The public is welcome to attend but cannot vote.
PLANT SHOW: The Northern Regional Growers' Show, a trade show aimed at growers and plant buyers from garden centres, local councils and retail outlets, will be held at the Great Yorkshire Showground, on July 17, from 9am to 5pm.
Craft sessions: Three creative papermaking sessions are to be held at Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre, in Knaresborough, on Wednesdays April 10 and 24, and May 8, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Sessions cost £10 each. Contact (01423) 541888 for details.
Trust symbol: The Harrogate Healthcare NHS Trust has strengthened its commitment to the employment of disabled people by adopting the Employment Service's disability symbol.
Ambulance cash: The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is to share in £2.2m funding from the Government. The money, which will go towards operational costs, will be shared with four other air ambulance services in the country.
Abbey tOUR: A two-hour, two-mile taster tour of Fountains Abbey will be held by the National Trust next Sunday and Wednesday, April 17, from 1.30pm. It will take in the abbey, landscaped gardens, 17th Century hall, Victorian church and medieval deer park. Meet at the visitor centre.
Antiques fair: An antiques and fine art fair is to be held at Pavilions of Harrogate, on the Great Yorkshire Showground, from April 25 to 28.
