BANK holiday shoppers encountered a smoke-blowing dragon when they visited Darlington town centre yesterday.
Visitors to the town enjoyed a magical day as Rodney the dragon and friends entertained the crowds, with face painting, temporary tattoo stalls and workshops.
There was plenty for Harry Potter fans, with workshops on making wizard hats, wands and spell books.
The Easter Magic event was organised by the Darlington Town Centre Initiative, and was sponsored by the Cornmill Shopping Centre and the Queen Street arcade. The events were held in the Queen Street arcade and the Cornmill Centre and were free.
Children also had the chance to create their own version of Rodney - with tips from a dragon workshop.
Louise Payne, town centre manager, said: "The whole day has been a magical occasion."
"There was lots for kids to see and do, and everyone has had a good time whilst shopping in Darlington town centre."
