ENTRIES are being invited from communities who have enhanced their environment in the past year.
Councils have been sent entry forms for the 2002 Durham County Tidy Village competition, which this year features seven categories, relating to villages' populations. There is also a children's competition.

MS EVENT: Darlington branch of the MS Society is holding a coffee morning on Tuesday, April 16, from 10.30am to noon, at St Augustine's Parish Centre, Larchfield Street, Darlington as part of MS Awareness Week.
COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning will be held at St John's Church, Darlington, on Saturday, April 13, from 10am to noon, to raise money for Witness Support.
MOCK AUCTION: A mock auction is being held at St Elizabeth's Church Hall, Woodham, Newton Aycliffe, on Saturday, from 9.30am to noon.
MUSICAL SHOW: The team that produced Captain Corelli's Mandolin will be staging a very different story at Darlington's Civic Theatre on Tuesday, April 30, at 8pm.
Private Angelo is a musical which tells the story of an Italian soldier who thinks he lacks courage, but who steers an hilarious path through the tragedy of war. Tickets costing £8, or £6 for concessions, and further information can be obtained from the theatre box office on (01325) 486 555.
BRIDGE DRIVE: The Darlington committee of Macmillan Cancer Relief is holding a bridge drive next Monday, at St George's Bridge Centre, Brinkburn Road, Darlington, from 1.15pm. For details call (01325) 469785.
CIRCLE DANCING: There will be circle dancing in the All Saints and Salutation Church Hall, in Blackwell, Darlington, on Monday, at 7.30pm.
DIABETES UK: Darlington branch of Diabetes UK is hosting a talk called Darlington Old and New, by local historian George Flynn, next Monday, at 7pm, in the education centre at Darlington Memorial Hospital. For details call (01325) 252807.
CHURCH FUNDRAISER: A coffee morning is being held at Hurworth Methodist Church on Saturday, from 10am to 11.30am, in aid of church funds.
ANGEL VOICES: The New Life Singers will perform Angel Voices, by Roger Jones, at Corporation Road Baptist Church, Darlington, next Thursday, April 11, at 7.30pm.
CHURCH EVENTS: St James the Great Church, Darlington, is holding an open day on Saturday, with sponsored organ playing by David Garrood. A coffee evening will take place at the church hall next Tuesday. Admission is £1 and the event starts at 7.15pm.
