A MOGGIE experiencing a 'bad hair day' has clawed its way to victory to become Britain's Scruffiest Cat.
Fudge who lives with her owner Chris Carrick in Coundon, near Bishop Auckland clinched the title after she was entered into a competition in Your Cat magazine.
To enter the competition, which was sponsored by insurance company Pinnacle Pet Healthcare, Mrs Carrick submitted a photograph of Fudge to the magazine.
She said Fudge, who is now blissfully happy after starting life as a rescue cat, enjoyed posing for the pictures when she was having a 'bad hair day'.
Mrs Carrick has won a digital camera and free comprehensive pet insurance cover for a year.
She said: "I was absolutely stunned to hear that Fudge had won. I entered the competition because the prizes sounded so inviting but had no idea that my 100pc thoroughbred moggie would turn up trumps.
"I am thrilled with my prizes. I have wanted a digital camera for some time and am itching to get started on more pictures of Fudge. The free insurance was an unexpected bonus and gives us piece of mind for the future.''
