A DARLINGTON woman celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday.
Gertrude Bennett, known as Nan, celebrated her centenary with friends, family and staff at The Lawns Nursing Home.
Mrs Bennett, has lived at the home since September 1999.
John Conlon, manager at the home, said: "She is a wonderful old lady, and she thoroughly deserved to reach 100 years of age. The staff and residents all love her."
Mrs Bennett has a large family to share the occasion with, including a son and daughter, four granddaughters, a grandson, eight great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons, as well as four great-great-grand-daughters.
She enjoyed at party at the home where staff served up food and champagne, and provided entertainment for Mrs Bennett and her family and friends.
