Teenager admits robbery
A teenage boy admitted robbery when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court yesterday. The 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted robbing another boy of a Panasonic personal stereo on October 22 last year. The case was adjourned for five weeks for pre-sentence reports to be prepared. He was released on conditional bail.
COURSE CLOSED: The pitch-and-putt course at Prissick Base, in Middlesbrough, has had to be closed temporarily because of a fire at the pavilion. A spokesman for Middlesbrough Council said it hoped to reopen the course within the next few days.
Coffee morning: Saltburn branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind is holding a coffee morning tomorrow at Skelton Methodist Church Hall, from 10am to noon.
Flea market: Saltburn Community and Arts Association is holding a collectors' fair and flea market at Saltburn Community Centre Hall tomorrow, from 10am to 4pm. The event is being held to raise funds for the Saltburn Community and Arts Centre. Refreshments will be on sale and admission is free.
CHARITY BOWLS: Teesside charity Against Bowel Cancer is joining forces with Hollywood Bowl to offer an evening of bowling on Monday, April 29. There are places available for teams of six people to compete for a winner's trophy and prizes. The cost of the evening, which is being held at Teesside Retail Park, is £60 per team with a deposit of £10 to secure a place. The cost covers two games and a meal for each player. Blind auction: A blind auction will be taking place at Wilton Golf Club, near Redcar, on Friday, April 19, at 7.30pm, in aid of Teesside Hospice.
