Birtley St Josephs were no match against Whitehill FC on Wednesday when they went down 4-1 at home, especially with Michael Pitt on fire again for Whitehill scoring a hat-trick in the first half. He had them in front in 25minutes. John Sexton equalised for Birtley after 30 minutes. Five minutes later Whitehill were 2-1 up through Gary Robson, then Pitt hit another two in 40 minutes and 45 minutes. The score was 4-1 to Whitehill at half time and stayed that way until the final whistle with both teams unable to create a chance in the second half.
Chester's FC were unlucky not to get a result in their home game against Wylam Vale Celtic. Ritchie Hand had them in front in 30 minutes but had no time to celebrate when Chris Swan equalised for Wylam. John Armstrong had them 2-1 in front at half time scoring in the 35th minute. In the second half both teams were pretty evenly matched but somehow Wylam got the breaks when Phil Murray got a brace in the 55th and 70th minute. Final score, Chester's 2, Wylam 3.
Washington Westwood won comfortably 3-0 at home to Simonside SC. Daniel Knight had them 1-0 in the lead at half time with a goal in 15 minutes, In the second half Peter Hollis scored the second in 70 minutes, Paul Diamond hitting number three in 80 minutes.
Hartlepool Boys Welfare had another convincing win at home to Seaham Mallard. They were 5-0 up at half time. Scorers were, Jeff Cooper (2), Paul Dougherty, James Parkinson, and Dave Smith. Smith made it number six in the second half, but the highlight of the match was when Paul Dougherty picked up the ball just outside his own penalty area, beat at least four Mallard players and slipped the ball past the keeper.
Belford House the only team that may give the leaders Hartlepool Boys Welfare a run for their money in the league's competitions were still in winning form beating Seaham The Duke 3-1 at home. In the 10th minute Gary Shield had them in front. John Squires equalised in 25 minutes. Joe Holborn put Belford 2-1 up in 35 minutes with Paul Dodsworth adding the third five minutes later. Belford being worthy of the three points.
