Trimdon's chances of carrying off the championship received a setback when they could only draw 1-1 at Sacriston despite taking the lead through Paul Hunt.
Graham Kime levelled during the second 45 minutes when unfortunately from Trimdon's point of view, Wilkinson failed to convert a penalty in the last few minutes.
Trimdon stay fourth from top, 14 points behind leaders Jarrow St Bedes but they have played five games fewer than their rivals.
Herrington are second, two points adrift of Jarrow St Bedes with a match in hand and South Moor are third, ten points off the leaders having played two fewer fixtures.
Jarrow St Bedes will meet South Moor in the final of the Palmer Cup. Both teams enjoyed relatively comfortable victories in the semi-finals with Jarrow defeating neighbours Hebburn 3-1 thanks to goals by Andrew Lalley, David Stephens and Daniel McGinley.
South Moor also scored three times when they visited Lumley. Philip Raisbeck bagged a brace and the visitor's other goal came from Kris Hewitt. Lambton Street celebrated their first victory in the league defeating bottom of the table Springboard 5-1. Dave Cawood put the visitors in front at the halfway stage and although Mark Newby netted for Springboard, Lambton Street ran out easy winners with four second half goals from Chris Divers (2), Jimmy Smith and Shaun King.
Herrington suffered a rare defeat when they lost 6-3 at Washington Dunlop in the North-East Durham Youth Cup. Eight of the nine goals were scored during the second half. Danny Graham rifled a hat trick, David Armstrong scored twice and Dunlop's other scorer was Keith Vincent. Michael Hedley, Adam Foster and an own goal accounted for Herrington's three.
Fairs Software Tyneside Junior League
Oone game went ahead at the weekend and leaders Walker Central were held to a goalless draw by fifth placed New Hartley.
The result leaves Walker Central just two points in front of Whitley Bay who have two games in hand. Redheugh are also in the race for the championship and they too are a couple of points adrift of Walker Central although they have played the same number of fixtures as the leaders.
At the bottom Cleveland Hall will finish with the wooden spoon. They have failed to gain a single point after 18 attempts and have scored just six goals while conceding 136. West Denton are second from the bottom with 11 points from 18 matches and Crook are third from the basement having collected 17 points in 14 games.
New County North Durham Youth League
Sandhole reached the final of the Edward Wanless Memorial Trophy defeating Redheugh 3-1 but will have to wait to find out who they play since South Shields Abfad and Cleveland Hall drew their semi-final tie.
A brace of goals from Craig Nickle and one by Robbie Blemmings earned Sandhole their 3-1 victory at home to Redheugh whose only goal came from the penalty spot by Andrew Curry. South Shields Abfad and Cleveland Hall ended 1-1.
In the Under-16 Division B, Prudhoe Town went nap at home to Rutherford ending 5-2 in front of their visitors. Chris McGlen (2), Jack Cane, Stephen Smith and Ed Wilkinson were all on target for Prudhoe Town with Andrew Holmes and Daniel Gray responding for Rutherford.
At Under-17 level, Chopwell progressed in the Charlie Thomas Memorial Trophy winning 2-0 at West Denton when both goals were scored by Joel Neesham.
In the league, there were wins for Annfield Plain and Consett in Section A. Annfield Plain hit Stocksfield with a 7-0 defeat and the hero was undoubtedly Andy Green who rifled five goals. John Lidster and Stephen Kirkbride were also among the goals.
Consett, meanwhile, put four goals past Wardley who managed just one from Mark Carr. David Lumley, with a couple of goals, Daniel Craggs and Paul McDonald were the Consett marksmen.
One game was played in B Division and Hebburn Clegwell strengthen their grip at the top of the table winning 9-2 at Blackfyne. The nine goals were shared by Stephen Gardner, (5), and Chris Hayes (4).
Apollo Doors Gateshead Youth League
Leam Rangers G will play Chopwell in the final of the Under-11 League Cup. A hat-trick by Tom Williams earned Leam Rangers G an exciting 4-3 victory over Blackfyne but not before the tie went into extra time. Chopwell settled their semi-final tie against Winlaton in normal time winning 3-1.
In the Under-11 division Low Fell romped to a 9-2 victory at Felling Magpies when three players Alec Tate, Shaun Welsh, and Mark Potts all scored hat-tricks.
A brace of goals by Craig Wood set Sandhole on their way to a 3-0 success at Swalwell and Liam Ward was another player to score twice as Leam Rangers Y inflicted a 7-2 defeat on Consett.
In the Under-12 section Redheugh extended their lead at the top of the table when they defeated Low Fell B 2-0. Leam Rangers G stay second despite losing 5-2 at Blackfyne for whom Lewis Teesdale and Connell Reed both hit the net on two occasions. So too did Gary McDine for Leam Rangers G.
Michael Curry with a hat trick and Simon McKenna (2) scored most of the goals when Leam Rangers Y ran out 6-1 victors over Blaydon and Cleveland Hall hammered Trimdon 9-0 with most of the goals coming from Jamie Huggin (2), Dean Forester (2) and Charlie Lamb with a hat trick.
At Under-13 level Blaydon opened a three points lead over Redheugh who were without a game.
Blaydon visited second from bottom Consett and won 8-0 with Shaun Vipond scoring a hat trick while John Rogers added a couple of goals.
Leam Rangers are third after they thumped Felling Magpies 9-1 as Darryl Iveson, Andy Allen and John Etchells all scored twice.
Blackfyne celebrated their tenth victory of the season over basement side Cooperhall winning 5-0 with goals by Ellis Green (3) and Lee Calvert (2).
Sandhole comfortably secured the points at Cleveland Hall ending 3-1 ahead with Craig Paley scoring twice.
In the Under-14 division Leam Rangers and Blaydon are neck and neck although Blaydon have a game in hand on their rivals.
Leam Rangers were without game and Blaydon visited Stocksfield where they won 5-1 as Carl Peaker scored twice.
A brace of goals by Harry James was the feature of Blackfyne's 3-3 draw with Cleveland Hall and Michael Henderson was another player to find the net on two occasions in Ryton's 4-0 win at Sandhole. In the remaining match, Felling Magpies defeating Consett 3-1.
Two games were played in the Under-15 division and there were comfortable victories for Blaydon and Consett. Blaydon defeated Prudhoe Town 8-2 with hat tricks by Kevin Wood and David Paylor while a brace of goals from Simon Thompson helped Consett for a 4-0 victory at home to Blackfyne.
Thirsk Falcons
Thirsk Falcons under 9s travelled to Northallerton and played some excellent football. Thirsk A beating Northallerton A 8-0 with goals from Daniel Easton (5) Ryan Mckendry (2) and Nick Cressey. Thirsk A then took on Northallerton B and kept up their performance to come away with a 11-0 victory Ryan Mckendry (4) Nick Cressey (3), Daniel Easton (3) and Nick Newcombe scoring the goals. Thirsk B drawing 2-2 with Northallerton A Steven Jamieson getting both goals in that was a fair result for both teams.Thirsk B then came out 3-2 winners against Northallerton B Liam Evans (2) and Steven Jamieson
