A FOOTBALL team is aiming to impress talent scouts in a tournament in the Isle of Wight - and not just with their footballing skills.
Chester-le-street and Washington Schools District Under-14s are travelling down south for the friendly tournament with a new strip sponsored by builders Bowey.
Team coach David Beeston said: "It's tremendous that Bowey Homes can help us out. Our old strips are shabby and we only had one set which makes it difficult when we go to tournaments where we play a lot of games in short space of time.
"Without generous sponsorship from companies junior football couldn't survive in the community. We will certainly look the part in the Isle of Wight now."
The team, who train at Biddick school in Washington, is made up of the best players from 11 schools in Chester-le-street and Washington and is expected to finish second in the district league.
Bowey Homes are currently building at Highfields in Sacriston, and sales and marketing director Karen Emerson is hoping the sponsorship will aid the teams continuing success.
She said: "Bowey Homes are happy to be able to help a local team. I hope the new strips bring the team a lot of pleasure and good luck at the tournament."
