Darlington Spraire Lads and Lasses
South Durham Royals 1 v 6 Spraire Lasses
Spraire Lasses Under-11s travelled to Newton Aycliffe needing one point out of their last three league games to win the Under-11s Tyne Tees Girls League.
Two goals after 13 minutes, the first by girl of the match Laura Gowling and the second by captain Rachel McKnight set the Lasses up for the well earned victory.
Jordan Atkinson, returning after illness, scored a well taken goal after 20 minutes. South Durham Royals scored after 26 minutes to make the score 3-1.
Laura Gowling scored again after 31 minutes with Rachel McKnight completing her hat-trick with two goals after 46 and 54 minutes.
South Durham tried hard to get back into the game, but were thwarted by excellent saves by top class goalkeeper Katie McTague and strong tackling by defenders Laurel Barr, Laura Specne, Joanne Wray and Sian Eales. Keely Edwards and Helen McTague both went close to adding to Spraire Lasses' total. Spraire Lasses are nine points clear with two league games left. The latest success follows on from the squad winning the Under-10s league last season.
