A CRICKET club hoping to attract youngsters to the game is appealing for funding to help its efforts.
Haughton Cricket Club and Haughton Community School, in Darlington, formed a link in 1997 to develop sport in the community.
Haughton school head of PE, Jackson Sweeting, said: "One of our main aims this year is to have an under-13 girls team playing cricket.
"The club and school are also running a fundraising appeal to raise money to replace the existing two-lane indoor cricket nets."
The first fundraising event being held by the school and club is a race night tonight, at The Highland Laddie, in Haughton, starting at 7.30pm.
Any business or individual who would like to offer support or funding to the appeal is asked to contact either (01325) 254111 or 07764 289596
