DIFFERENT types of birds are being encouraged to roost in Hartlepool's parks under a wildlife initiative.
It is hoped that a scheme to put up 100 bird boxes in trees at several locations, including Ward Jackson Park, Burn Valley Gardens and Rossmere Park, will increase the variety of birds in the town by providing additional roosting sites for types such as robins and the wagtails.
The boxes will be installed over a period of two years and offer birds a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the town.
