SPENNYMOOR Leisure Centre is to get a new canopy leading to its entrance.
The work will be done as part of a town centre improvement scheme.
The plans include building steel and glazed canopies at the entrances to the pedestrian walkway from Cheapside to the leisure centre and brick feature walls with signboards next to the squash courts.
A report to Sedgefield Borough Council's development control committee said: "The proposed works are intended to make the area more attractive."
