A book of condolence will be available outside the Asda supermarket in the Newgate Centre, Bishop Auckland, from Sunday morning, for shoppers to pay their respects to the Queen Mother.

The store will close from 10.30am to 1pm on Tuesday to mark her funeral.

COUNCIL TALKS: A meeting of Great Aycliffe Town Council's recreation committee will be held in the council offices, School Aycliffe Lane, Newton Aycliffe, on Tuesday, at 7.15pm. The environment committee will meet on Wednesday, at the same place and time.

CURRENCY CALL: Shoppers are being urged to take unwanted foreign currency with them when they visit Bishop Auckland today, where the Butterwick Hospice and Teesdale Pipes and Drums will be collecting from 9am to 3pm. Proceeds go to the Butterwick Hospice.
