WILDFOWL COSTS: Admission charges at the Washington Wildfowl and Wetlands Park are £5.20 for adults, £4.20 for the over 60s, and £3.20 for children aged four to 16, with the under fours admitted free. There are family tickets (two adults with two children) at £13.50 and the park operates a membership scheme for regular visitors.

HEALTH AWARD: Washington Grange Residential Care Home has received the highest placing in the Healthy Homes Awards of Sunderland City Council.

CRIME AWARD: Inspector Ray Morton, of Washington Area Police Command, received a national crime prevention award on behalf of a number of agencies for work done on the Racecourse Estate.
TOOLS FOR LIVING: The Pit Stop is offering a course on development tools for living to women aged between 16 and 18. There is a training allowance of £10 which does not affect state benefits.
