THREE pupils have been rewarded for their sporting achievements.
Christopher Garbutt, a year 11 student at Bedale High School, was awarded the Meynell Cup for outstanding achievement in football.
This season he has been a regular in the North Yorkshire county side, playing on the left wing.
The youngster also plays for Bedale Town FC.
Martyn Coombs, head of physical education at the school, said: "Christopher is a gem of a player, one you only get every so often in schools football.
"He has the ability to go past opponents with ease, and is the best left-footed player we have ever had at the school."
Fellow pupils Kirsty Clethero and Laura Thomas also picked up trophies. Kirsty won the cup for achievement in hockey while Laura won the Boreham Cup for achievement in netball.
The girls' PE teacher, Vicky Thompson, said: "Both girls have 100 per cent attendance records at practices and have represented the school with distinction throughout the year and fully deserve their rewards.
