PEOPLE living in the village of Hunwick say they are having their peace disturbed by eight stray horses.
The animals have been grazing on land alongside the old railway line which runs past the village to Bishop Auckland.
One resident, who asked not to be named, said: "They have broken through a fence on the old railway and are coming into the cricket field in the morning.
"At night they wander up the village and were on our estate at 11pm on Saturday night and at 4am on Sunday morning."
Another resident said the horses had done damage to the village cricket field and football field.
Residents have filed numerous complaints to Wear Valley District Council about stray horses over the past few years.
