INDIAN culture will be the theme at Hartlepool's Central Library this weekend when there will be a series of free demonstrations and activities. On Saturday, between 10am and 2pm, events include costume displays, traditional eyebrow shaping and henna painting. On Sunday, from noon to 3pm, visitors will have the chance to sample Indian dishes. The weekend has been organised in conjunction with the Circle of Life, a local organisation which promotes multicultural events. For further information call the Central Library, on (01429) 272905.
Choir entertain: Members of Redcar Male Voice Choir, conducted by Margaret Flick and accompanied by Jean Weir, entertained residents, friends and staff at the Ann Charlton Lodge in Redcar and raised £82 for the Lodge funds. Coffee morning: Newcomen Methodist Church, Mersey Road, Redcar, is holding a coffee morning in the Epworth Hall on Saturday, from 10am to noon. There will be homemade cakes and pastries, Admission is 30p and all proceeds are for church funds.
MILESTONE PARTY: A centenarian has celebrated her milestone birthday in style. Elizabeth Miller had a surprise party at North Ormesby Workingmen's Club, arranged by her family and friends.
LIGHTS WARNING: There will be temporary traffic lights at Milton Street and Amber Street, in Saltburn, on Friday to allow for the construction of a road crossing by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
PLAY DATE: Leeds Library Touring Theatre Company presents Alan Aykbourn's play, Relatively Speaking, at Saltburn Community Theatre on Saturday, at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from Kings of Saltburn and Saltburn Library.
Temporary lights: There will be temporary lights until the end of next week at the Saltburn Road junction with Marine Parade in Saltburn, for maintenance work.
Annual Assembly: The annual assembly of Loftus Town Council is on Monday, April 22, at 7pm, in Loftus Town Hall. All are welcome.
