Blaze at caravan park
PEOPLE were evacuated from Witton Castle Caravan Park, near Bishop Auckland, yesterday, while firefighters tackled a blaze fuelled by gas from butane cylinders.
The fire destroyed storage sheds and 500 square metres of trees. It is believed to have started in burning rubbish.
CASH SNATCHED: thieves raided a house in Alfred Place, Newton Aycliffe, and stole a black purse and £120 in cash between 7pm and 8.30pm on Monday.
GARAGE RAID: An Echo petrol strimmer and a Mantis electric rotavator were stolen from a garage in Central Avenue, Newton Aycliffe, between 11am on Friday and 3pm on Tuesday.
HOUSE BURGLED: A house in Holly Hill, Shildon, was burgled overnight on Tuesday, and a £100 video recorder stolen.
FARMERS MARKET: A Farmers Market is being held in Bishop Auckland tomorrow, from 10am.
PSYCHIC FAIR: A psychic fair is being held in Witham Hall, Barnard Castle, on Sunday, from 10.30am to 5pm. Admission is free.
