POLICE now have a clearer picture about a robbery at an off-licence.
Two thugs who grabbed a security guard and threatened store staff with a knife may have been unaware that the raid was being filmed on security cameras.
A camera installed at Bell's Store, Saltersgill, Middlesbrough, filmed the incident and detectives examined the video footage yesterday.
No one was injured in the robbery, but the shop's two women counter assistants were left shaken and distressed.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Two men, one black the other white, went into the shop through the front door, grabbed the security guard took him outside and threatened him at knife- point.
"The black man then went back into the store and threatened the two female members of staff with the knife and demanded money from the till. More than £100 was handed over.''
The robbers made their escape in a white car, which was driven along Saltersgill Avenue towards Keith Road.
Detective Sergeant Keith Dee said: "The robbery was captured on the store's CCTV system and we will be examining that today. We are also hoping to speak to the staff involved.''
The black robber wore a brown balaclava, a navy blue jumper and tracksuit bottoms with the word Nike in red letters down the left leg.
His white accomplice wore a blue jumper, a cream cap and blue jeans.
Anyone with information about the robbery, which happened on Tuesday night, is asked to telephone Cleveland Police on (01642) 303134.
