A DARLINGTON Brownie leader who has given 30 years' service was rewarded with a surprise party last night.
Joy Storey has spent three decades working with the 3rd Haughton pack at St Andrew's Church, in Salters Lane.
The 18-member pack of seven to ten-year-olds held a party to thank Mrs Storey for her efforts on their behalf.
She also received a special service badge from District Commissioner Maureen Spencer-Brown.
Susan Wilson, Tawny Owl for the pack, said Mrs Storey had been dedicated to the Brownies throughout her service.
"It is a lot of dedication to run a pack," she said.
"It is a voluntary organisation, so she does not have to do it. And she has managed to bring up two children at the same time."
Mrs Storey said she hoped to be working with the Brownie pack for many more years to come.
