Bishop Auckland opened their programme at the 15th annual English Schools FA Under-14 Festival in the Isle of Wight with a 2-0 victory over East Cornwall.

Bishop Auckland started well pressuring East Cornwall from the outset, but the bumpy pitch made control difficult and chances were missed.

Midway through the first half, however, Bishop Auckland put together a flowing move and Stuart Campbell finished well to put them in front. A 20-yard free kick from Daniel Robinson doubled their lead.

East Cornwall staged a spirited comeback after the break aided by the wind at their backs.

Bishop continued their good form of the first day when they met Hertfordshire side Dacorum at Ryde on day two and again won 2-0.

Bishop Auckland went ahead with their first meaningful attack, a good run down the left with four passes and a cross gave James Hallas the opportunity to fire in the first goal. Bishops began to control the game and deserved a second goal headed in by Tom Fothergill from a corner.

Bishop recorded their third successive victory and their third successive 2-0 win when the Isle of Wight were beaten.

Daniel Robinson's shot bounced high off the bumpy pitch and was helped into his own net by the Isle of Wight keeper. Bishops victory was confirmed when Liam McRoy's side-foot finish completed a flowing move. Bishop had a 100 per cent record going into their last match but drew the final game 1-1 with Somerset side Bridgewater and District. Bridgwater were much quicker to the ball in the first half and well deserved the lead given to them by Matthew Williams. With the benefit of the slope, Bishop Auckland did better in the second half, but looked destined to defeat when a long ball released James Hallas and he ran through a big gap and round the keeper to net the equaliser with the last kick of the game.
