JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS: Commemorative mugs and spoons have been ordered as part of Harmby's plans to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee, the parish council was told. It was agreed to hold the following events: children's sports, a fancy dress competition, fancy dress football/tennis, an afternoon tea, treasure hunt, barbecue and village hall disco. Applications have been submitted for a drinks licence and for National Lottery funding for the event.
SCRAPYARD PLANS: It was reported that the final decision on plans to redevelop the A684 scrapyard had been deferred for further talks. The district council's officers recommended it be refused. Par-ish councillors felt, however, that amended plans, which set the houses further from the trees and included a small play area, were acceptable.
WATER LEAK: Councillors were told that Yorkshire Water had not yet repaired the water leak in Middleham Lane at the entrance to Ferrand Park. It was also reported that following work carried out by Yorkshire Water in Annasgarth, water pressure was now low. The company will be asked to increase the pressure.
