League Leaders Hartlepool Boys Welfare won the Mark Blake Memorial Trophy final
Tie 1-0 against Belford House at Peterlee's New Town football ground. Both teams played it tight with Hartlepool getting the only goal. Mick Birkbeck latched onto a loose ball in the Belford's penalty area and hammered it into the top right hand side of goal in 55 minutes.
Whitehill FC beat Wylam Vale Celtic 6-1 at home with two special hat-tricks. Gary Robson, brother of the Bryan Robson hit one and Michael Pitt hit the other. After ten minutes Robson headed the first from a cross by Ross Robson and got the second when he lobbed the keeper 13 minutes later. Pitt netted after 28, 32 and 65 minutes. Phil Murray replied after 70 minutes before Gary Robson made it six in the 87th minute.
BHD Windows went down 5-1 at home to Simonside Social Club whose scorers were Michael Ord (2),Carl Simpson, Roy Simpson and Gary Stephenson. Chris Wood got BHD a consolation goal.
Durham Victoria Bridge beat Birtley St Josephs 3-2 at home and would have had a more convincing win if James Reay the Birtley keeper had not had an exceptional game. Mark Bowes had Durham 1-0 up in 15 minutes. Brian Rees made it 2-0 after 20 minutes. Then Lee Cuthbert and John Sexton in 30 and 37 minutes made it 2-2 at half time. In the second half Durham piled on the pressure but Reay in goal for Birtley kept them at bay until Darren Burnham got Durham's 85th minute winner.
Paul Diamond hit three goals out of four for Washington Westwood hosting Chester's FC. Dean Helens put them ahead after three minutes, Paul Diamond hit the second goal on 20 minutes then completed his treble after 50 and 65 minutes.
Hartlepool Boys Welfare beat Belford House 3-0 at a canter in the Washington Aged People's Trophy quarter final. Belford pressed from the start but made a costly error at the back. Paul Docherty was brought down in the box and Chris Birkbeck made no mistake from the spot after 22 minutes. Dave Smith made it 2-0 for Hartlepool after 34 minutes then James Parkinson got number three after 52 minutes to seal the tie.
Seaham Mallard reached the Washington Aged People's Trophy final with a 3-2 win at Hartlepool Arriva. They were 2-0 down after 20 and 35 minutes with goals from Brenden Hampshire and Glen Watson.
Kevin Hardy hit back for the Mallard in 40 minutes then latched on to a poor back pass to make it 2-2 in 65 minutes. Ten minutes later Dave Crombie got the winner.
