A WOMAN campaigning to have the sale of fireworks banned says she is overwhelmed by the support she has received from readers of The Northern Echo.
Pearl Hall, from South Bank, Middlesbrough, launched her campaign for tougher laws following a terrifying incident in her own shop, Open All Hours, last year.
A youth lit a firecracker in the shop, destroying some of the stock and terrifying Mrs Hall and her daughter, Elizabeth.
Earlier this week, Mrs Hall was one of 50 campaigners from across the country who attended the Houses of Parliament to talk to MPs Barry Gardner and Phil Harris as to why they wanted the ban.
"We talked through our concerns and we are trying to get more MPs on our side. It is gathering momentum and we will take it further," said Mrs Hall.
"A lot of people have followed the story through The Northern Echo and I just want to thank all the people who have supported me with the petitions and everything else.
