HOLISTIC medicine, transport, energy saving devices and grants are some of the subjects to be covered in a disability awareness day.
The Northern Echo columnist and wheelchair-user Phil Donegan will be opening the event in Stanhope on Tuesday, April 30, when information and advice will be available for people with physical disabilities, carers, the elderly and their families.
The first 100 people through the doors of St Thomas Church Hall, in Front Street, will be eligible for free low energy light bulbs. Wear Valley District Council's energy conservation officer, Ian Bloomfield, will provide information on discounts and grants and other energy saving projects.
Organiser Wear Valley Disability Access Forum has invited representatives from rural transport companies, Bishop Auckland College and carers' organisations to take part in the event, which runs from 11am to 3pm.
