A GROUP of east Cleveland cadets were on the move yesterday to take part in a challenging weekend of activities in Barnard Castle, County Durham.
The 120 Army cadets from C company Cleveland Army Cadet Force detatchments were involved in the largest event other than their annual camp in August.
The boys and girls, aged between 13 and 18, will spend the weekend in military training including fieldcraft, camp craft, map work, shooting, drill, skill at arms, first aid and other self reliance training. One party of cadets is going on an expedition involving a 15-mile hike and living under canvas.
As well as the military side of training there is also an opportunity to ride motorcycles and mountain bikes, canoe and use a climbing wall for abseiling and rock climbing.
Major Mike Twinn, Training Major for Cleveland Army Cadet Force, said: "This is the first opportunity of the training year for C Company to work together at full company strength, and all the cadets are ready for the challenge and opportunity presented to them."
Anyone who would like to join the force and train for this year's annual camp at Shrewsbury should call Major Andy Shaw on (01642) 242414 ext 21.
