WOMEN are being given the chance to get behind the wheels of some unusual vehicles next month.
They will be able to get to grips with everything from articulated trucks and fire engines to police cars and buses among others at a charity driving challenge.
The event, in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, will take place over the weekend of May 11 and 12 at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, near York.
The charity's community fundraising manager, Susie Fothergill, said: "Linton is a fantastic venue, and easily reached from all over Yorkshire and Teesside.
"Ladies decide whether to take part on Saturday or Sunday for the experience of a lifetime in vehicles usually reserved for the men - but they will also be challenged in a driving skills test and vehicle maintenance checks.
"The aim of the day is to have a lot of fun, as well as providing a learning experience."
She added: "This is the chance for us to rally together and put an end to all those jokes about women drivers once and for all."
Anyone interested will be asked to pay a £5 registration fee and raise sponsorship in aid of local Marie Curie Nurses.
