Spennymoor dropped out of the play off places with a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Workington on Saturday - and manager Tony Lee labelled the result and performance as "the worst since I arrived."
Moors, in fifth place at the start of the game, never got to grips with struggling Workington.
Lee said: "We lost to a late penalty, but it was no more than we deserved.
"We never really played all the game, and only a couple of players did well.
"We were outbattled, and it was possibly the poorest performance since I came here to the club."
Workington took the lead after 49 minutes when the Moors defence left Barry Irving completely unmarked to head past James Provatt.
But Stephen Bell was on the end of an Anthony Lee cross to equalise and give Moors a chance of a point.
However Moors were hit by the cruellest of blows when a foul by Michael Robson in the last minute led to a penalty which Marc Green converted.
Bishop Auckland collected three valuable points in their relegation fight with a 2-1 win at Bamber Bridge, with striker Andy Shaw scoring two superb goals.
Manager Alan Shoulder said: "Andy scored goals which would have graced the Premiership."
Bishops started the game well, and took the lead when Shaw picked up a pass from James Middleton and then fired it home from 25 yards.
And they were 2-0 up midway through the half when Shaw cleverly beat his marker, before his low effort was just too good for the Bamber keeper.
Bamber hit back with a goal just before half-time, but Bishops stayed in control in the second half.
Bishops are still just three points above the play off zone, because third bottom Colwyn Bay beat Gainsborough.
They now have a free midweek before they play Bradford in their last ever home game on Saturday.
Whitby Town are now five places and seven points above the relegation zone after they beat Droylsden 3-0 at the Turnbull Ground.
Alex Gildea fired them in front from the edge of the area after 52 minutes.
Then Craig Skelton was on hand to score the second with a drive into the top corner.
On loan midfielder Danny Wood scored the goal of the game with a solo run after 75 minutes.
Whitby have now won their last four matches.
Blyth did Whitby and Bishop Auckland a favour by winning 2-0 at Marine.
Glen Robson was the hero hitting the target twice.
Gateshead drew 0-0 at Hucknall.
