A GROUP of young dancers took to the stage at the weekend to help raise £5,000 for charity.

Youngsters from The Tiffany School of Dance in Darlington performed at the Civic Theatre on Saturday to raise money for Cancer UK and the Butterwick Children's Hospice.

Nearly 200 children performed ballet, tap and modern dance in memory of Jo Corrick, a Darlington dance teacher who died from cancer in July last year.

All money raised from the event is to be divided between Cancer Care UK and The Butterwick Children's Hospice.

Last year, a similar show raised £5,000 for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.

Pictures and a full listing of dancers who took part in the event will appear in The Northern Echo tomorrow.
