MARATHON man Tim Tribe is hoping to feel on top of the world next month when he takes part in one of the toughest challenges on the planet.

Mr Tribe, of Boroughbridge, will line up among an elite group of 75 runners to tackle the highest race in the world - the Everest Marathon.

Reaching the finish line at 12,000ft will be a hard enough task, but athletes will also have to trek through the foothills of Nepal for 16 days and camp out in sub-zero temperatures just to get to the starting point at Mount Everest Base Camp.

Mr Tribe is following in the footsteps of his fellow members of the Ripon Runners group, who have attempted the marathon in previous years. Proceeds from the race are donated to the Everest Marathon Fund, which supports community projects in Nepal, and Mr Tribe said he would also be donating half of his sponsorship money to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Anyone who would like to sponsor Mr Tribe can contact him on (01423) 325104.
